Scott is quite the romantic, hiring Marie over at Pillows + Picnics to set up a beautiful private area just for them above Carmel Sunset Beach. I arrived when they were setting up so I was able to capture some detail shots before Scott and Wendy arrived. It was a little challenging to be nearby and remain inconspicuous, but generally as long as I’m pointing the camera away as they approach, people tend to assume I’m just a nature photographer. Scott wasted no time getting down on one knee to propose, after which I walked over and introduced myself. Of course it started raining at that point, so I took them through a quick couples’ portrait session so they could get back to their picnic under their umbrellas. Stormy weather is unpredictable, but I love the chaotic clouds and even the sprinkles as it seals an unforgettable moment in time and place.
