Amanda and David had an epic 3 hour engagement, covering three separate locations on the West side of San Francisco. The Legion of Honor is known for its architectural elements, Sutro Baths are water-filled ruins right next to the ocean, and Land's End is a beautiful trail near Sutro with a cypress forest and meandering trails. Lastly, we hit up Baker Beach (thankfully no nudes) for sunset and the must-have shots of the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Amanda and David did an awesome job, and we have a ton of great shots to show for it. Thanks guys, can't wait for your wedding day next year!
OK, so Cheryl & Brian had their engagement shoot the week of their wedding – so I didn't get all these edited until after their wedding – but I did get to get them a few choice samples they could display on the Big Day. We met up at Pichetti Ranch in the foothills of Cupertino. It's a beautiful, rustic location, lots of deer, cool barns, and trails leading through the hills. We looked at a map, and tried to find the pond – but we only found a dry lake bed :( But we had a fabulous time together, I got to boss them around and they listened to everything I said! I love my job! When I go home, I get to be bossed around, so the balance of the world remains intact people. Anyways, enjoy a few of my favorites from Cheryl and Brian's Pichetti Ranch engagement shoot!
Weddings these days, especially in the Bay Area, are often a mix of cultures, religions and downright preferences. At the end of the day, weddings are about bringing people together, forming new families and foundations for the future. Divya and Ben brought their own unique personalities and families together and joined them into one at historic Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park, California. We had awesome weather, the Indian food was to die for (I had seconds), and I got SO many great candid photos throughout the day into night. Enjoy some of my favorites below, check them all out here: http://www.goodeyephotography.com/Weddings/In/Menlo-Park/Allied-Arts-Guild/Divya-and-Ben
I met up with Melissa and Ryan this morning for their engagement session at Nisene Marks in Aptos – an absolute gorgeous redwood forest popular with runners and bikers alike. Aptos was its typical foggy self, so I postponed our 10am shoot by an hour just to get things a little brighter. The sun never came out, but the atmosphere for natural light was really gorgeous. But if you follow my work, you know I usually include off-camera light as well – the trick is to keep it looking natural and not, well, flash-y. 8 of the 26 photos below are using un-natural light, can you tell which ones?
Being UCSC grads, Pat and Carol decided to have their engagement photo session on the Santa Cruz wharf. I've never shot an engagement here, so it was quite fun to explore the creative opportunities here. I'll be honest – it's not the cleanest or best-smelling location, but it's got character, and these two are a lot of fun to hang out with. Enjoy a few photos below!
